Eden Restored: South America
The South American garden features a couple in brightly colored, happy clothing dancing. Behind them is a tree inspired by several South American trees, including the araguaney and golden trumpet. At their feet are tropical flowers, including billbergia, alstroemeria, and victoria amazonica. Beside them are a vicuña, and a toucan and parrot sitting on mandacaru. The top of the panel features Chilean crocus over a grand view of a rainforest lake.
The South American painting reflects the continent’s incredible biodiversity. The Amazon rainforest is the most diverse in the world. The couple’s medium-dark skin tone and dance clothing reflect the mixing of a variety of ethnic groups on this continent including indigenous peoples and those of European, African, and Asian descent. The featured biblical gemstone is sapphire, reflecting the incredible beauty and blue-sky attitude of this continent. Yellow and rainbow combinations also play a key role, creating a sunny and playful mood.
Approximately 3ft x 7ft (.91x2.13m) Acrylic and dye on silk. The dyes have been set permanently using a steam-setting process. The top includes a sewn-in compartment for inserting a rod or wire for hanging.
As seen in NYC, Paris, and Tokyo
