Help your student gain admission to the specialized art school of their dreams.

Does your middle school student dream of attending a specialized arts high school to propel forward their dreams of becoming a professional visual artist? The first step is to develop a standout portfolio. This can seem like a daunting task. Help your student step up to the challenge!

I’m Rachel Neikirk, a professional artist and art educator. I help middle school students develop standout portfolios for admission to specialized arts high schools. I offer services both in NYC (Chelsea and Downtown Brooklyn) and online.

I know what it takes to help students achieve this goal. I have a track record of success helping students just like yours get in to the art school of their dreams. I also took private art lessons myself in middle and high school and I know what a difference it made in helping me get into a college art program with a scholarship.

The foundational skill that art programs look for is observational drawing. The core of what I offer is teaching students to draw what they see from real life. Depending on student need, timeline, and budget, we will determine which package is best for your family. After an initial skills evaluation, all packages include ongoing feedback and parental communication.

Throughout the process, I love sharing not only drawing skills, but also advice from my experiences as a professional artist, and parents say I have helped their children become more confident.

Elissa, Parent of Middle School Art Portfolio Student

“Rachel is an exceptional art teacher. Not only is she an incredibly talented artist, but she is a wonderful teacher. She has worked with my daughter for years and during that time, she thoughtfully guided her to become a better artist. I have also worked with her and appreciated her perspective on the value of art in all of our every day lives. Rachel has been such a blessing to our family and I would strongly recommend her to anyone: from individuals who are serious about enhancing their mastery of art to more casual learners who are interested in learning a new skill.”
