Dos Lados

This acrylic painting comes from my research trip to the Dominican Republic. As an artist, researcher, and teacher working for one week in a resort area, I felt caught between the world of sandy beaches and the poverty experienced by many local residents. I used color to highlight the contrast, using similar colors on both sides but altering the intensity of the colors from one side to the other.
